Global Components

Global Components are used as an addition to the standard components where they can be configured once, and used across many pages. The benefit of the Global Component is that it can be managed from once central place, therefore in an event that the information needs to be changed it will be done once from the Global Components admin area, and that change will be reflected on all pages where that global component is present.

Global Components are also useful for storing information that does not have to necessarily be visible on the website, such as branding information, theme settings, integration scripts such as GA/GTM tags etc.

Global Components can be Created / Edited or Deleted via the main Global Component admin area. The positioning of each component cannot be changed, as the order does not affect the presentation layer in any way.

Create a Global Component

To create a new global component select the Layout for the Global Component and click the button “Add Global Component”.

On the Global Component edit page the component can be further customised:

A fully configured Two Columns global component would look like this:

Click “Save” to save the changes, the new “Documentation” component will be added to the list of global components on the main admin page:

The next step is to add the global component to a page. Navigate to a page and edit the page in the Pages module. Next to the Page Sections area click on the “Add new component” link:

That will trigger a pop-up with the full library of layouts assigned to this default page layout. Select the “Global Components” tab at the top of the pop-up window & search for the new component + press enter or click on the search icon on the right.

Our component should show up, add the component to the page by clicking the + button at the bottom of the component:

At that point the component should load within the admin layout and have a “global” tag assigned as an indicator it is a global component:

The component can be viewed on the link below:

Note: Global component can be edited from any page where it is located, or via Content > Common > Global Component area. Please note if the component is changed in any way that change will be applied to all the pages where that component is present (global update will take place).
